Central Highlands focus on grassroots health service development

Ha Noi, May 14 (VNA) -- The health sector in the Central Highlands has considered as its first target the development of grassroots medical network to eradicate communes blank of health care services.

In recent years, central highlands Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces have focused on improving community-based medical services to ensure primary health care for ethnic and poor people, timely detect and prevent epidemics, and encourage people to take measures of hygiene and family planning.

Ha Noi, May 14 (VNA) -- The Ministry of Trade has asked the Prime Minister to support the export of rice, coffee, leather footwear, garments, fine arts and handicraft articles, aquatic produce, vegetables, fruit and meat. The Ministry of Trade hopes that this will took to boost exports in the remaining months of the year.

Ha Noi, May 13 (VNA) -- The Prime Minister has assigned the Ministry of Public Security to participate in the implementation of two regional projects on drugs control and strengthening the capacity to support drugs control activities in eastern Asia.

The drugs control project, funded by the United Nations drugs control programme, will be carried out in Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam for four years.

May 13 (VNA) -- Viet Nam's representative to the United Nations on May 10 voiced support for the UN initiative on international cooperation in sea research and in the fight against piracy.

Addressing a five-day UN consultative meeting on oceanic and sea issues, the Vietnamese representative said piracy has emerged as a global problem and that international efforts are needed to bring it under control.

He shared other delegates' view on the seriousness of the problem and called for closer regional cooperation in fighting it.
