Ha Noi, July 16 (VNA) -- Ha Noi will host five meetings of senior officials from member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) from July 23-28, says the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It announced that all the five meetings deal with issues relating to unity, stability, and the expansion of cooperation.

Vietnam returns more American servicemen remains


Ha Noi, July 9 (VNA) -- The remains of five American servicemen listed as missing in action (MIA) were given to the U.S. Full Accounting Joint Task Force by representatives of the Viet Nam Office Seeking Missing Persons in Ha Noi on July 9.

The remains were found by joint Vietnamese-U.S. teams during the 64th joint search for MIAs from Feb. 8-Mar. 8, 2001. Those remains have gone through primary tests in Ha Noi by forensic doctors from both countries for identification.

Amb. Peterson paid farewell visits to Vietnamese leaders

ODA helps promote Vietnam's economic development



Ha Noi, July 7 (VNA) -- Planning and Investment Minister Tran Xuan Gia affirms that Official Development Assistance (ODA) sources have made an active contribution to increasing Viet Nam's economic growth and improving its population's living conditions.

Foreign donors pledged more than USD 17 billion, including 15 percent of non-refundable aid and 85 percent of soft loans, for Viet Nam through eight donor group's consultative meetings between 1993 and 2000, according to the minister.

WB grants 520million loans to Vietnam


Ha Noi, July 5 (VNA) -- Poverty Reduction Support Credit, Ho Chi Minh City Environmental Sanitation, Mekong Delta Transport and Flood Protection are Viet Nam's three projects that will receive credits of USD 520 million from the World Bank.

Agreements to the effect were signed in Ha Noi on July 5 by Governor of the State Bank of Viet Nam Le Duc Thuy and visiting WB Vice President Jamil Kassum.
