PetroVietnam exports 100 million tonne of crude oil



Ha Noi, March 29 (VNA) -- The Viet Nam Oil and Gas Corporation, PetroVietnam, has exported the 100 millionth tonne of crude oil by the end of March. It passed the 100-million-tonne mark in tapping crude oil on Feb. 13, this year.

PetroVietnam exported more than 4.3 million tonnes of crude in the first quarter of this year, marking a year-on-year rise of 22.3 percent.

In the same period, the Corporation exploited about 4.36 million tonnes of crude, a year-on-year increase of 22.7 percent, and brought 450 million cu.m of associated gas ashore to fuel electric power plants and liquefied petroleum gas, LPG, facilities in southern Viet Nam.

Viet Nam's crude has been pumped from its off-shore oil fields such as Bach Ho (White Tiger), Rong (Dragon), Dai Hung (Big Bear), Rang Dong (Dawn), Hong Ngoc (Ruby) and Bunga Kekwa, while its associated gas has mostly come from Bach Ho.

PetroVietnam is focussing its investment on building the Dung Quat oil refinery as well as Nam Con Son and Tay Lan gas projects.--VNA
