Party leader and Thai PM affirm to boost ties
Ha Noi, April 25 (VNA) -- Both Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra affirmed the two countries' desire to constantly boost their friendship and cooperation, especially in agriculture, tourism, science and technology.
Nong Duc Manh was receiving the Thai PM in Ha Noi on April 25 during the later's two-day official visit to Viet Nam.
General Secretary Manh briefed his guest about the ninth Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV), stressing that Viet Nam would speed up the renewal process and implement the independent and open-door foreign policy.
He expresssed his joy at the Thai people's achievements, which have helped their country properously develop.
Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra congratulated Manh on his election as CPV General Secretary and the success of the ninth CPV Congress.
He expressed his deep impression of Viet Nam and highly valued its national renovation achievements.
He informed General Secretary Manh about the result of his talks with Vietnamese Prime Minister Phan Van Khai, which took place the same day in Ha Noi.--VNA
