Veteran Association praises contribution of Amb. Peterson
Ha Noi, June 29 (VNA) -- Viet Nam's War Veterans Association President Senior Lieutenant General Tran Van Quang has praised U.S. Ambassador Pete Peterson's active contributions to normalizing Viet Nam-U.S. relations as well as promoting ties between the war veterans associations of the two countries.
Gen. Quang made the remark while meeting with the U.S. ambassador, who paid him a farewell visit today, June 29.
He also expressed his belief that the ambassador would inform the American administration and people about the progress Viet Nam has made in its renewal course as well as all difficulties it has encountered after the war, especially dealing with the consequences of Agent Orange.
Gen. Quang said he hoped that the U.S. administration would pay more attention to and show its responsibility for seeking effective measures to solve this humanitarian issue as soon as possible.
The U.S. ambassador pledged that the U.S. side would further realize its commitments to help search for missing Vietnamese, remove land mines, and promote bilateral cooperation in other humanitarian issues.--VNA
