Today, 12 September 2001, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Tran Duc Luong sent condolences to President of the United States of America George W. Bush and American people. The message reads as follows:

"The Vietnamese leaders and people were extremely shocked by the tragedy that occurred in the United States in the morning of 11 September 2001. We would like to extend to the U.S Government and people, especially to the families of the victims our profound condolences. Vietnam consistently oppose against terrorist acts that cause deaths and sufferings to innocent people."
