Trade agreement with the U.S serves as a legal tool for exporters
Ha Noi, Nov. 21 (VNA)-- The National Assembly will consider ratifying the Viet Nam-U.S. Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) to lay a legal foundation for businesses wanting to export products to the U.S. market.
This was announced by Trade Minister Vu Khoan in an interview with Lao Dong (Labour) newspaper on Nov. 21.
He said that approval of the BTA will mark a full normalisation of trade relations between Viet Nam and the United States, a market which annually imports trillions of US dollars worth of consumer goods.
To further support business circles, the Trade Minister said he would lead a business delegation to the United States to conduct a market survey once the document is ratified.
The Trade Ministry has also produced databases of information on the U.S. market for businesses' reference.
Mr. Khoan said that the strong competitiveness of Vietnamese goods is dependent on the interaction between three decisive factors: the national business environment, sound export procedure and policies, and businesses and products' competitiveness.
It would be hard for a business to export its products if it faces certain legal "barriers" even if its products may be strongly competitive, Mr. Khoan pointed out.--VNA
