Foreign Minister Nguyen Dy Nien concludes visit to Mexico
Mexico City, Sept. 4 (VNA)-- Foreign Minister Nguyen Dy Nien of Viet Nam ended his week-long official visit to Mexico on Sept. 3 after signing cooperation accords on culture, education and foreign affairs.
On the last day of his visit, the Vietnamese top diplomat was received by President of the Mexican Congress Enrique Jackson, who pledged comprehensive support to Viet Nam.
Jackson said the Mexican Congress is ready and resolved to a steady development of relations between the two countries. He also said his legislature overwhelmingly supports Viet Nam's bids to join the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and to host the 2006 Summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).
"Mexico's Congress will support all Governmental policies towards Viet Nam," stressed the chief law-maker of Mexico.
Also on Sept.3, Foreign Minister Nien met with Chairwoman of the Mexican Senate's External Relations Committee Dulce Maria Sauri, who stressed effective and long-term cooperative ties with Viet Nam.
Senator Sauri said Mexico is actively implementing its external policy to boost cooperative ties in trade, economics, finance, investment, human resources and culture with Asian-Pacific nations, including Viet Nam.
FM Nien, in turn, assured his hosts of Viet Nam's policy to develop multi-faceted cooperation with Mexico, especially in economics, science and technology, culture and law.
During his stay, the Vietnamese Foreign Minister also held meetings with Mexican business circles and visited some economic and cultural establishments in the capital city.--Enditem
