Viet Nam Airlines plans more flights during Tet

Ha Noi, Dec. 12 (VNA) -- The national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines, plans to add more flights on international and domestic air routes during "Tet", the traditional Lunar New Year, which falls on Feb. 1 of 2003.

The extra flights will be conducted from Jan. 1 to Feb. 28 next year, a month before and after "Tet".

Vietnam Airlines will operate additional 20 flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Sydney and Melbourne of Australia, 14 flights on the Ho Chi Minh City-Bangkok air link, six flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Singapore and Europe each, and four flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Guangzhou of China.
On the air route from the southern city to Kuala Lumpur, the airlines will use bigger planes instead of increasing flights.

On domestic routes, it plans to increase about 30 percent of flight number, focusing on the routes linking the country's cities of between Ha Noi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City.

Vietnam Airlines will increase to 2,500 seats a day on the Ha Noi-Ho Chi Minh City air link from 1,500 at present. Flights linking Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang will be increased by between 1.5 and 3 times.
