Activities of NGOs in Vietnam
Nov. 14 (VNA) -- More than 100 officials from Ho Chi Minh City's agencies in charge of receiving aid from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have been provided with skills on aid mobilization and management.
A training course, held in Ho Chi Minh City by the People's Aid Coordination Committee (PACCOM) and the city's Union of Friendship Organizations, aimed to provide officials in charge of development assistance projects with information and knowledge to improve their professional skills, related legal documents and consultancy on conducting survey, devising plans and implementing projects.
By June this year, Viet Nam had set up relations with nearly 500 NGOs. Those organizations grant Viet Nam USD 80 million a year. Eighty percent of the aid are destined for projects on socio-economic development, hunger and poverty eradication and charitable activities.
Besides, NGOs have coordinated with the city's mass organizations to help needy people in suburban areas
