HCMC Plans Gala Events To Ring In Lunar New Year
A show featuring Asian traditional costumes will be held in Ho Chi Minh City in February as part of the city’s program to celebrate the Tet lunar New Year festival.
The show January 30 and 31 is to introduce 300 versions of traditional dress of peoples from China, Japan, South Korea, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, said the Department of Culture and Information.
The Vietnam Fashion Design Institute (Fadin) will be in charge of running the fashion and art performance at the show, held to mark the 10th anniversary of Vietnam’s admission to the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Other scheduled activities include Tet Flower Market at the September 23rd Park from January 22 to 28, Flower Street on Nguyen Hue Boulevard from January 26 to 31 and Spring Flower Festival at Tao Dan Park from January 24 to February 2.
The Van Thanh Tourism Park in Binh Thanh District will be the venue for a culture and food festival themed “Am Thuc Que Toi” (my homeland’s cuisine) in January.
In addition, Tet flower markets will take place at Gia Dinh Park in Binh Thanh District, Le Van Tam Park in District 1 and Phu My Hung in District 7 from January 22 to 28.
A New Year’s Eve concert will be held at the April 30th Park in front of the Reunification Palace on January 28 and will be broadcast live by the HCMC Television Station.
