US Secretary of State to visit Vietnam in late July
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will visit Vietnam late this month, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Le Dung on July 13.
Ms Rice's visit is expected to take place after she attends the 39th ASEAN Foreign Ministerial Meeting (AMM) and the 13th ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from July 24-28, spokesman Dung said.
"The visit aims to strengthen the co-operation between Vietnam and the US. The Vietnam-US relationship has seen new progress over the past. We believe that the continued exchange of the two countries' high-level delegations, including US Secretary of State's up-coming visit, will help strengthen the mutual understanding for building a long-term stable and mutually-benefiting relationship between the two countries," the spokesman said.
