Vietnam inaugurates Embassy in Switzerland




Nov. 30 (VNA) -- Viet Nam officially inaugurated its embassy in Berne, Switzerland, on Nov. 29 in the presence of the visiting Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Dinh Bin and Swiss Secretary of State F.V. Daniken.

The inauguration manifested Viet Nam's policy to develop long-term relations with Switzerland, particularly in economy, trade, culture, investment, banking, finance and high technology, Deputy FM Bin said. He added that the event also affirmed Viet Nam's foreign policy of openness, diversification and multilateralization and showed Viet Nam's high appreciation of Switzerland's role and position.

Swiss Secretary of State Daniken expressed his joy at Viet Nam's opening its embassy in Berne, describing it as a historical milestone and an initial step in strengthening and developing bilateral relations.

Deputy FM Bin paid an official working visit to Switzerland on Nov. 28 and 29.

While there, the Vietnamese diplomat paid a courtesy visit to Chief of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Joseph Deiss who said that Switzerland has always considered Viet Nam as a regional priority partner.

Deputy FM Bin conveyed Foreign Minister Nguyen Dy Nien's invitation to J. Deiss to visit Viet Nam. The Swiss diplomat accepted the invitation with pleasure. He also invited FM Nien to visit Switzerland at a convenient time.

Deputy FM Bin had working sessions with Switzerland's relevant agencies on ways to boost bilateral cooperation in the interest of the two peoples.--VNA
