ILO senior officials in Vietnam
Dec. 12 (VNA) -- Senior officials of the International Labour Organization, ILO, and Viet Nam's Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs Ministry met in Ha Noi today, Dec. 12.
Their purpose was to review a three-year project, funded by ILO and Japan and implemented by the ministry, intended to raise management capacity and upgrade facilities at job promotion centres in Phu Tho, Hai Duong, Nghe An and Dong Nai provinces and Ho Chi Minh City.
The project was started in 1998.
The officials also discussed development of the centres and raised questions about the expansion of private employment service centres as well as development of unemployment insurance systems.
Project director Nguyen Le Minh said that hundreds of employees at the five centres had been provided with employment-service skills.
Various employment fairs had been organized and delegates sent on study tours to developed and developing countries such as France, Sweden, Singapore and Malaysia.
About 150 job promotion centres have emerged since the first was established in Ho Chi Minh City in the early 1990s. The centres hold job training courses and provide employment consultancy for tens of thousands of people.--VNA
