Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong visits Alabama and Georgia States.

 

During his recent visit from 13-15 of June to the State of Alabama and the State of Georgia, Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong has called on the Governor of Alabama, Mr. Robert J. Bentley and the Governor of Georgia, Mr. Nathan Deal to learn about the economy of the states as well as opportunities to promote future relations between the two States and Vietnam. In the State of Alabama, Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong also visited the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Civil Right Memorial, and met with Mr. Morris Dees, the founder of the Center. Ambassador Cuong also met with Steve Franklin, chief of the Kawita Creek tribe from Phenix City, Alabama to learn about the City's trade and economic priorities. 
 
 
In the state of Georgia, Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong paid a visit to the GE Smart Grid Center, where he was encouraged to learn of the current projects between GE Energy and partners in Vietnam to promote electricity efficiency and meet the energy need of Vietnam's economic growth. Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong also visited the headquarters of UPS and was briefed on the company's priorities and plan to expand business in Vietnam.  In Atlanta, Georgia, Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong held a business round-table with the members of the MetroAtlanta Chamber of Commerce and met with Invest Atlanta Inc. Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong also traveled to Augusta, Georgia to visit the Vogtle Nuclear Plant, where he was invited to tour the construction sites of the two new Westinghouse AP1000 nuclear reactors - two of the very first constructions of a nuclear plant in the US in more than 30 years.  Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong also met with the faculties of the logistics and nuclear technology departments at Georgia Tech University.
 
 
Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong's visit to the State of Georgia was facilitated by the assistance from representatives of the Department of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce.
