Vietnam increases investment in livestock breeding
Ha Noi, Jan. 31 (VNA) -- Viet Nam's investment in livestock breeding will continue increasing in 2001 to ensure the balance between husbandry and crop cultivation.
The number of pigs will be raised to 21 million
including 17 million lean-meat pigs for export. Viet Nam now has about more than 19 million pigs with 7 million lean-meat heads.
The herd of cow will rise to more than 4.3 million heads, about 250,000 more than last year, including more than 38,000 milch cows. The numbers of buffaloes and poultry will also increase to more than 3 million and 205 million, respectively, or 50,000 buffaloes and 15.8 million poultry more than last year.
The agricultural sector is to pour more investement in improving the quality of breeder poultry and young cattles to ensure foodstuff safety and seek more markets.--VNA
