US NGO Holt helps with child care and flood relief
Ha Noi, Feb. 11(VNA) -- US non-government organization, NGO, Holt International Children Services, will provide about VND 674 million (USD 48,000) to help disadvantaged children in Da Nang this year.
The fundings will be spent in caring for children, especially at the city's orphanages.
Holt International Children Services has been involved with disadvantaged children in Da Nang for serveral years.
Another US NGO, the Catholic Relief Services, CRS, has helped build 120 houses worth more than VND 2 billion (USD 142,800) for families in Thua Thien-Hue province since last April. The province was inundated by floods in late 1999.
CRS has also helped build a water supply system and two schools in the province's Phong Dien district.
In late 1999, CRS donated 2,500 packages of commodities and 20 tonnes of food worth VND 800 million (USD 57,100) to the province's flood victims.--VNA
