The Spokesperson on peaceful solution to Kosovo
Answer by the Spokesperson of Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs to foreign correspondent on June 10, 1999 with regard to peaceful solution to the Kosovo Issue.
Question: On 10 June 1999, Hanoi-based AFP correspondent asked about Vietnam's reaction to a piece of news that Yugoslavia signed an agreement with NATO on troop withdrawal from Kosovo on 9 June 1999.
Answer: As a peace-loving nation and stemming from the consistent position that independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of each country should be respected and all conflicts resolved by peaceful means, Vietnam welcomes all efforts to seek a peaceful solution to the Kosovo issue on the basis of respect for independence, sovereignty and legitimate interests of all nationalities in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Vietnam demands that all military actions against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia be put to an immediate end, thus early stabilizing the Yugoslav situation and creating conditions for the Yugoslav people to rebuild their country.
