Malaysia's construction of some projects on the En Ca area belonging to the Truong Sa archipelago
Nhandan Aug. 26 --Vietnam has sufficient historical and legal evidences to prove its indisputable sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracels) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes, reiterated a spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry in Hanoi on August 25.
The spokesperson affirmed Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagoes while answering a Vietnam News Agency correspondent's question on Vietnam's viewpoint on Malaysia's construction of some projects on the En Ca area belonging to the Truong Sa archipelago.
The spokesperson further said that any action by any country on or around the two archipelagoes was a violation of Vietnam's sovereignty and was invalid. She affirmed Vietnam's stance to promote peaceful negotiations for a fundamental and durable solution to the dispute.
"While looking for such a solution, all concerned parties should exercise self-restraint, refraining from any action that would make the situation more complicated," the spokesperson stressed.
She added that concerned parties should not use force or threaten to use force, strictly abide by international laws, particularly the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and the 1992 Manila Declaration on the East Sea of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
