Foreign organizations provide humanitarian aid to Vietnam
Nov. 20 (VNA) -- * World Vision Pledges USD 181,000 to Da Nang City
The World Vision has pledged USD 181,000 to projects on eyes care, street children and household economic development in the central city of Da Nang from 2001-2003.
The project on community-based eyes care will receive USD 25,000 while the project to help street children will be provided with USD 6,000. The USD 150,000 project to develop household economy will be carried out in four mountainous communes in Hoa Vang district.
* Ford Vietnam Presents Medical Caravan to Bach Mai Hospital
Ford Viet Nam, a joint venture between Diesel Song Cong of Viet Nam and Ford Motor Corp. of the US has presented a medical caravan to the functional rehabilitation department of Ha Noi's Bach Mai Hospital.
The donation was made within a programme on providing handicapped children with functional rehabilitation services in northern Viet Nam of the Vietnam Veterans of America Fund.
This is one of the four vans, including two staff vans and two medical caravans, as a Ford Viet Nam's gift worth USD 110,000 to the programme.
*British Insurer Presents Gifts to Orphanage in Ha Noi
British life insurance firm, Prudential on Nov. 19 presented clothes and commmodities worth VND 6 million (USD 428) and five computer sets to the Birla Orphanage in Ha Noi on the occasion of its first anniversary in Viet Nam.
Prudential also graned four-year scholarship worth VND 14.4 million (USD 3,600) to Pham Viet Kha, who is a member of the Birla Orphanage and a student of the National Economics University.
The Birla Orphanage now accommodates 110 children.--VNA
