Draft amendments and supplements to the Constitution
Sai Gon Times Weekly 2/12: The National Assembly (NA) will appraise some draft amendments and supplements to the 1992 Constitution regarding the State machinery and the economic system next year. The work will be done on the basis of the resolution of Viet Nam Communist Party's 9th Congress scheduled for early next year. The NA will consider amending provisions in the laws on the organisation of the NA, the Governement, the People's Court, the People's Bureau of Prosecution , people's councils and people's committees and the election of NA deputies. The NA will pass amendments to the laws on land, fire prevention and fighting, protection of cultural relics and the Law on Litigation in its spring session next year. The autumn session will see approval of amendments to the 1992 Constitution. According to the NA Standing
Committee, next year's legal agenda will focus on the country's integration process and implementation of bilateral and multilateral commitments Vietnam has made. This year's legal agenda includes seven draft laws and 14 draft ordinances seeking NA approval, five draft laws seeking deputies' comments, three draft laws seeking provincial governments' comments and preparation of 16 draft ordinances. The NA has launches a website aimed to step up reform, democracy and global integration. The website (http://www.na.gov.vn) will enable the public, overseas Vietnamese ans foreigners to learn about the legislature's structure and operations, deputies and Vietnam's legal system. It is also a tool for voters to supervise the NA activities, who can use email address in the website to send opinions and requests to the NA. The website has an English summary of the main contents. It will be expanded to provide full updated information in English
