Vietnam-ROK to promote military exchange
Ha Noi, Dec. 18 (VNA) -- Viet Nam's Defence Minister Pham Van Tra and his Republic of Korea, RoK, counterpart, Cho Seong Tae, have agreed to promote military exchange and co-operation between their countries.
Mr. Cho, who arrived in Ha Noi this morning, Dec. 18, for an official visit, briefed Viet Nam's Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Manh Cam at a reception this afternoon about the results of his talks with Minister Tra soon after his arrival.
He conveyed RoK's President Kim Tae-Jung's regards to Vietnamese Party and government leaders and spoke highly of Viet Nam's achievements while implementing its policy of renovation.
The visiting minister also expressed the hope that RoK-Viet Nam cooperative ties would be deepened in many areas.
Deputy Prime Minister Cam said he was pleased to see a rapid development of Viet Nam-RoK relations, especially economic and commercial co-operation, since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1992.
He appreciated RoK's success in developing information technology and said he believed that the friendly ties and multi-faceted cooperation between Viet Nam and RoK would develop unceasingly to conform with the desire and interest of both countries and contribute to peace, friendship, cooperation and development of the Asia-Pacific region and the world.
This evening, Defence Minister Pham Van Tra hosted a dinner in honour of the visiting minister and other members of RoK's military delegation.--VNA
