Fund for support of overseas Vietnamese set up

A meeting was held on April 25 at the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese to establish a Fund for Support and Encouragement of the Overseas Vietnamese Community (the Fund for Community Support).
Vice State President Truong My Hoa will act as the chairwoman of the fund’s Sponsoring Council.
Addressing the meeting, Ms Hoa affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam attached importance to the work of mobilisation of Vietnamese community abroad, considering it as part of the policy of national great unity. She expressed happiness at the activities toward the homeland by Vietnamese overseas, who have helped promote friendship and co-operation between Vietnam and other countries.
Among the delegates to the meeting was Foreign Minister Nguyen Dy Nien. The minister said he hoped that the fund would work effectively to support the Vietnamese community abroad as well as encourage them to make more contributions to national construction.
