Overseas Vietnamese artists to attend Duyen Dang Viet Nam

At least three overseas Vietnamese artists are to join Duyen Dang Viet Nam 14, the Thanh Nien-sponsored performance show to take place early January.

The appearance of these overseas Vietnamese are expected to bring a breath of fresh air to Vietnamese music and Duyen Dang performances, said organizers.

Overseas singers Huong Lan, Elvis Phuong, and Duy Quang are expected to give special performances at the show.

Since the first appearance of overseas Vietnamese singer Huong Lan at the 6th Duyen Dang Viet Nam, many Vietnamese artists living abroad have been invited to perform in the Thanh Nien-sponsored art show including Ngoc Bich, Jimmy Nguyen, Trinh Nam Son, Elvis Phuong, and Duc Huy.

According to these artists, to be included in the Duyen Dang show will help them get more opportunities to perform in other art shows in Vietnam. This year it is singer Duy Quang’s turn to debut at Duyen Dang Viet Nam.

Dream comes true

Recently, the authorities granted Duy Quang permission to perform in front of domestic audiences after many years of living in the U.S.

“My dream has come true. I used to think that I would never sing in front of my beloved audience again. I would like to thank Thanh Nien newspaper and the authorities for giving me this chance,” said Quang, who could not hide his emotions when he heard the good news.

Quang informed that he would perform one of his own songs called “Kiep dam me” and a Pham Trong Cau song entitled “Em ra di mua thu.”

Meanwhile, Huong Lan and Elvis Phuong said they were nervous about performing at this Duyen Dang Viet Nam.

“It’s my fourth time in Duyen Dang Viet Nam but the first time I ever took part in a group performance,” said Elvis Phuong, adding that he would sing “Hon Vong Phu 1 - Doan Nguoi Ra Di.”

Huong Lan, a five-time performer at the Thanh Nien show, will sing “Hon Vong Phu 2 – Ai xuoi van Ly.”

Althouth very busy with her tight schedule of domestic and overseas performances, Huong Lan still shows up for her rehearsals with ballet dancers.

In an enactment, the singers’ voices should match the body movements of ballet dancers, so both Elvis Phuong and Huong Lan are now hard at work for their performances.

Director Dinh Anh Dung said that these enactments require special arrangements, adding that he expected the audience would be satisfied.
