US Singer: We Owe Agent Orange Child Victims an Apology
Ha Noi - Septermber 19, 2005 (VNA) - US folk singer Peter Yarrow, who is in Vietnam to raise funds for Viet Nam's Agent Orange (AO) victims, said he felt he and his friends have the responsibility to make apologies to child AO victims for their sufferings.
Talking with a reporter from the Sai Gon Giai phong (Liberated Sai Gon) before his concert at the Ha Noi Opera House on September 18, the first of the three charitable concerts he is to perform in Viet Nam, the singer said he was heart-broken looking at the children suffering from the after-effects of Agent Orange to which their parents or grandparents were exposed. Someone must apologize to them for their sufferings, but many US people did not dare to say it, he said.
The other two concerts will be held at Hue city's Culture Center and the Ho Chi Minh City Theatre on September 22 and 25.
This is the second time Yarrow has been to Vietnam to raise funds for AO victims. He first came to the country in March this year.
