HCMC Hosts International Tourism Exhibition
Fifty foreign and 80 Vietnamese tourism firms have come to the 2005 International Tourism Exhibition in HCMC.
The exhibit, which runs from Friday to Sunday, provided local tourism agencies a chance to showcase their products to domestic clients and scout for foreign partners, La Quoc Khanh, deputy head of the HCMC Tourism Department, said.
On the first day, some 60 tour operators from neighboring countries expressed a desire to send tourists to Vietnam soon, he said.
The event also gives foreign travel agencies a good opportunity to meet their Vietnamese counterparts and learn more about the country’s tourism spots.
“Not many Thais have traveled to Vietnam so far as they do not have enough information about your country,” Prayut Voeung, managing director of Thai PTM Asia company, said.
“After returning home, we will organize fascinating trips and send more Thais here,” he promised.
At the exhibition, several travel agencies, in collaboration with Vietnamese carriers, are offering 10-15% discount on tours to several countries, including China and Thailand.
