On Ambassador's visit to Massachusetts State
Between February 12 and14, Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong paid a working visit to Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts.
During the visit, he attended the Opening Session of the Vietnam Executive Leadership Program 2012 at Harvard’s Kennedy School, which drew the participation of Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam Vu Van Ninh and other high-ranking delegates from Vietnam. Also at Harvard’s Kennedy School, joined by DPM Vu Van Ninh, he met with representatives of Vietnamese students who inaugurated the Association of Vietnamese Students in the Greater Boston Area.
He paid a visit to Fletcher School, Tufts University where he had studied in a MA course on International Relations from 1996-1997. He met with the Dean of Fletcher School Bosworth and participated as a guest speaker in a talk with Fletcher scholars and students on topics including domestic and foreign policies of Vietnam, as well as Vietnam – U.S. relations in the broader Asia - Pacific context.
Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong also met with several members of Vietnamese Americans in the Boston area.
His visit to the William Joiner Center and the Archival collection of Captured Documents at University of Massachusetts demonstrated the Vietnamese Government's recognition and appreciation for the efforts by the Center, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary in June 2012 to serve the goal of promoting greater understanding between American and Vietnamese people, especially among veteran writers from both sides, which contributes to the establishment and further promotion of diplomatic relations between the United States and Vietnam.
