Vietnam supports oil-gas cooperation with the US
Vietnam backs cooperation in the field of oil and gas between US businesses and their Vietnamese partners, President Truong Tan Sang has declared.
At a May 22 reception for a working delegation of the US-based Exxon Mobil Corporation, President Sang highly valued American firms’ contributions to further increasing two-way trade between the two countries, and highlighted the US side’s support for Vietnam’s participation in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement.
The State leader expressed his hope that investors from the US and other countries will prosper from their investment in Vietnam, and suggested that US firms and the Vietnam National Petroleum Corporation (PetroVietnam) focus on realising trade deals this year.
Peter P. Clark and Raymond E. Jones, two Exxon Mobil Vice Presidents, informed the Vietnamese leader on the outcomes of joint projects between the US firm and PetroVietnam, and voiced their hope that the projects will bring about practical benefits for both sides.
Highlighting Vietnam as an attractive investment destination, the US executives thanked the Vietnamese side for its support with the projects, and asked to continue receiving such assistance in the coming time.
Once cooperation agreements are signed, American firms pledge to mobilise human resources and other assets to quicken up this years’ collaboration programmes with Vietnamese partners, the guests added.-VNA
