New Policy On Electronic Visa And Visa Exemption

I/ Viet Nam’s electronic visa (or e-visa, labeled as EV) are now applied for citizens of all countries and territories

On August 14, 2023, the Government of Viet Nam issued Resolution No. 127/NQ-CP on the application of electronic visas for citizens of countries and territories; international checkpoints allowing foreigners to enter and exit by electronic visas. Accordingly, the Government granted issueing electronic visas to citizens of all countries and territories.

List of international border gates that allow foreigners to enter and exit by electronic visas includes:

 

A/ 13 airports

1- Noi Bai Airport (Ha Noi capital);

2- Tan Son Nhat Airport (in Ho Chi Minh City);

3- Cam Ranh Airport (in the central province of Khanh Hoa);

4- Da Nang Airport (in the central city of Da Nang);

5- Cat Bi Airport (in the northern port city of Hai Phong);

6- Can Tho Airport (in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho);

7- Phu Quoc Airport (in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang);

8- Phu Bai Airport (in the central province of Thua Thien Hue)

9- Van Don Airport (in the northern province of Quang Ninh);

10- Tho Xuan Airport (in Thanh Hoa province);

11- Dong Hoi Airport (in the central province of Quang Binh).

12 – Phu Cat Airport (in the central province of Binh Dinh);

13 – Lien Khuong Airport (in Central Highlands province of Lam Dong).

 

B/ 16 land border gates

1- Tay Trang International Border Gate in Dien Bien province;

2- Mong Cai International Border Gate in Quang Ninh province;

3- Huu Nghi International Border Gate in Lang Son province;

This Resolution takes effect from August 15, 2023, replacing Resolution No. 79/NQ-CP dated May 25, 2020 and Resolution No. 60/NQ-CP dated April 27, 2022.

The duration of Viet Nam’s electronic visa is lengthened, from maximum of 30 days with single entry, to maximum of 90 days with single or multiple entry (ies).

According to Article 2 of the Law amending and supplementing the Law on Entry and Exit of Viet Namese Citizens and the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Viet Nam, from August 15, 2023, the term of electronic visa (or e-visa, labeled as EV) is lengthened, from maximum of 30 days with single entry, to maximum of 90 days with single or multiple entry (ies).

 

II/ The duration of temporary stay for citizens of 13 countries

that are unilaterally exempted from visas has been extended to 45 days.

On August 14, 2023, the Government of Viet Nam issued Resolution No. 128/NQ-CP amending Resolution No. 32/NQ-CP dated March 15, 2022 on visa exemption for citizens of several countries. Specifically, Resolution No. 128/NQ-CP amends Article 1 of Resolution No. 32/NQ-CP dated March 15, 2022 as follows:

Visa requirements are exempted for citizens of the following countries: Federal Republic of Germany, Republic of France, Republic of Italy, Kingdom of Spain, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Russian Federation, Japan, Republic of Korea, Kingdom of Denmark, Kingdom of Sweden, Kingdom of Norway, Republic of Finland and Republic of Belarus with a duration of temporary stay of 45 days from the date of entry, regardless of passport type, purpose of entry, provided that all entry conditions according to Vietnamese law are met.

Thus, compared to Resolution No. 32/NQ-CP dated March 15, 2022, the duration of temporary stay for citizens of the above countries will be increased from 15 days to 45 days.

Resolution No. 128/NQ-CP takes effect from August 15, 2023.
