Ceremony organized by the Embassy of Viet Nam to celebrate the 79th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day
On September 5, at the Vietnam House in Washington DC, the Vietnamese Embassy in the United States solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2024).
Attending the ceremony were Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell, along with more than 200 guests who are leaders and representatives of government agencies, the National Assembly, Ambassadors/Heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations, research institutes, associations, large corporations, non-governmental organizations, and representatives of the Vietnamese community living, working and studying in the United States.

At the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States Nguyen Quoc Dzung delivered a speech highlighting important milestones and achievements in the country's protection, construction and development over the past 79 years, transforming Vietnam from a backward agricultural country into a middle-income country, the 35th largest economy in the world and an active and responsible member of the international community. Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Dzung also highlighted the significant progress and results in all aspects of the Vietnam-US relationship since the two countries normalized relations in 1995, including the establishment of the Comprehensive Partnership (CPP) in 2013 and especially the upgrade to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) in 2023. On this occasion, Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Dzung expressed his thanks to US partners and friends who have always supported, assisted and actively contributed to the relationship between the two countries, and thanked the Vietnamese community in the US for playing the role of a bridge between the two countries; affirmed that he will continue to make every effort with partners and friends to effectively implement the CSP relationship, towards the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2025.

Representing the US Government, Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell warmly congratulated the 79th National Day and the achievements of Vietnam; reaffirmed the importance of the relationship between the two countries and expressed his joy at the achievements made in recent times, especially since the two countries upgraded their relations to the CSP. Deputy Secretary Campbell affirmed that the US will continue to cooperate closely with Vietnam to effectively implement the CSP framework, while preparing well for the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025.

During the National Day celebration program, the Embassy coordinated with famous artists and chefs in the country as well as those studying in the US to bring guests special musical and culinary performances. The guests were very moved when the national anthems of the two countries were performed directly by the artists; deeply impressed by the performance of Saxophonist An Tran; and had the opportunity to enjoy many special dishes from three regions prepared by the Embassy staff and chef Nguyen Quoc Y, Vice President of the Vietnam Chefs Association. The photo exhibition on the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the beautiful scenery of Vietnam added to the atmosphere of the ceremony.
The event left a deep impression on the guests about a dynamic and developing Vietnam, about the friendship and good cooperation between Vietnam and the United States./.
