VIETNAMESE GOODS BOUND FOR TEXAS
Feb. 11 (VNA) -- A total of 10 Vietnamese enterprises producing consumer goods and food are to display their products at an exhibition in the U.S. State of Texas.
The enterprises are to export to the U.S. through the Ho Chi Minh City Trade and Import-Export Services Company - LST - which has responsibility for administrative procedures for entry of the U.S. market.
It's planned to have the enterprises send their products to the U.S. from now to mid-March.
Viet Nam's export turnover with the U.S. surged to USD 700 million last year from USD 204 million in 1996, one year after the two countries resumed commercial relations.
Viet Nam is the U.S.'s ninth largest shrimp exporter and earned an estimated USD 300 million from sea food, mostly frozen shrimp and fish, last year.
Viet Nam's imports from the U.S. were worth USD 333 million with machinaries and accessories accounting for one third of the total value.--VNA
