"I am on the side of the poor farmer in Vietnam"
Dear Sir,
I am a Vietnam Veteran but I am not a senator. I do, however, think that what is happening regarding the catfish from Vietnam is terrible. I know that the Vietnamese people are an industrious people filled with honor and pride. I know this because I have been to Vietnam on two occassions. Once as a soldier and once as a visitor or tourist. Both times I was in Vietnam I was treated with dignity and respect. I applaud the Vietnamese people.
The politicians in the United States try to pass bills that are unclear as to meaning and content. They do this by burying the information in good bills that are based on good research. The catfish scandal is one of those cases that is based on misinformation. I have tasted both the US catfish and the Vietnamese catfish and I prefer the Vietnamese catfish. The flavor is better. The people who contend that the Vietnamese catfish is from an area where "agent orange" was dumped should not be worried since the US government has vehemently denied that "agent orange" has any
adverse effects on anyone who was exposed to it in Vietnam.
I do not know what will be the ruling, but I am on the side of the poor farmer in Vietnam.
Thank you,
Terry
