Ha Noi, Oct. 23 (VNA) -- Ms Tes Pilapil, a programme officer for the U.S. branch of the non-government organisation OXFAM, has been conferred with the "For the Cause of Women's Emancipation" Medal by the Viet Nam Women's Union (VWU).

The conferment was made in recognition of her contributions to implementing the cooperation programme between the VWU and OXFAM to raise rural women's socio-economic status.

Ms Pilapil has contributed a great deal to the VWU's charity fund. The OXFAM branch she heads has given USD 1 million to the VWU central committee and USD 700,000 to six provinces to run the fund.--VNA
