US Gives $3.1 Mln For Physically Challenged In Viet Nam
The US has pledged US$3.1 million for a program to assist people with disabilities in Vietnam pursue education, vocational training, and employment, the country’s ambassador in Hanoi announced.
The assistance was also meant to enable Vietnam to adopt more policies to help the disabled, US envoy Michael W. Marine said.
The money will come from the Leahy War Victims Fund and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)'s Displaced Children and Orphans Fund.
The three-year program, which begins this month, will focus on the northern Ninh Binh and central Quang Nam provinces.
The two funds, along with USAID’s Victims of Torture Fund, have worked in more than 40 countries to improve the social, economic, and developmental status of those most vulnerable and in need.
