Vietnam pavilion to be set up at U.S. woodwork fair
The U.S.’ largest producer of furniture recently announced it will set up a Vietnam Pavilion at a November U.S. woodwork fair, allowing opportunities for Vietnamese companies to tap into the US furniture market.
According a Sept. 16 news release of Karel Exposition Management (KEM), the U.S.’ largest producer of regional furniture and accessory markets, the Vietnam Pavilion will be set up at the upcoming 17th Long Beach Furniture & Accessory Market in southern California from Nov. 21 to 23, 2004.
KEM will make this Long Beach show “as productive as possible” for both the Vietnamese exhibitors and buyers, said the news release.
In addition, a networking meeting will also be scheduled to introduce Vietnamese manufacturers to the Home Furnishing Representatives Guild of Southern California. The participants will explore various ways for Vietnamese companies to market and distribute its products in the U.S.
KEM has also appointed Vietnam Resource Group, a consulting firm based in Washington DC, as its sole agent in promoting the U.S. furniture market within Vietnam.
In preparation, Vietnam Resource Group will participate in the International Furniture & Handicraft EXPO in Ho Chi Minh City from Sept. 29 to Oct. 3 to promote the Long Beach furniture market to Vietnamese manufacturers. The group will also take this opportunity to introduce Vietnamese companies to a number of U.S. buyers that are visiting the EXPO.
Based on the Vietnam Ministry of Trade, the U.S. woodwork import from Vietnam has increased significantly from 73 million USD in 2002 to 167 million USD in 2003. That number will definitely increase with the imposing of anti-dumping tariffs on certain furniture products from China, said experts.
Vietnamese woodwork is exported to more than 120 countries with the U.S., European Union and Japan being the biggest markets. According to the Furniture Today magazine, Vietnam is emerging as a best place in Asia to outsource woodwork.
