Vietnamese newspapers condemn so called "Vietnam human right act"
Ha Noi, Sept. 8 (VNA) -- All Viet Nam's major dailies today, Sept.8, came out strongly against the U.S. House of Representatives' recent endorsement of the so-called "Viet Nam Human Rights Act," considering it a rude intervention into Viet Nam's internal affairs.
The leading newspaper Nhan Dan (People) says in a commentary that the recent move of the U.S. House has, for the most part, resulted from the short-sightedness of some people and circles in the United States as well as pressure by a handful of people with hatred for their past defeat.
Nhan Dan warned against those who attempt to abuse Viet Nam-U.S economic and trade relations by increasing pressure and interference into Viet Nam's internal affairs, saying "The Viet Nam-U.S. bilateral trade agreement (BTA) is the result of concerted efforts made by both sides and is in the interests of both Vietnamese and American people."
"All wicked attempts and stubborn moves by some people and circles in the U.S. towards Viet Nam run counter to the current trend of peace and cooperation in the world and will certainly be condemned by people of the two countries as well as by progressive people throughout the world," the newspaper points out.
"No matter how heinous their attempts are, they will be foiled by a nation that has treasured peace and friendship with other nations, and has always desired to live in an independent, prosperous, equal, democratic, and civilized soceity," Nhan Dan emphasizes, adding "Lessons from the past remain alive forever to all those who do not want to receive a setback."
Under the title "An erroneous act by wicked minds",Quan Doi Nhan Dan (People's Army) says "Now is not time for those who abuse their strength to do what they want. The short-sighted viewpoint of a section of the U.S. House of Representatives has the potential to create an impass, not only in the ties with Viet Nam but also with the international community."
"The passing of the so-called Viet Nam Human Rights Acts only hinders an equal relationship between the two countries," Quan Doi Nhan Dan stresses. -VNA
