UN officials visit Central Highlands provinces

Dac Lac, May 15 (VNA) - A group of officials from United Nations agencies in Viet Nam visited the central highlands provinces of Kon Tum, Gia Lai, and Dac Lac from May 12-15 to study key socio-economic development indexes for the UN to develop its next five-year cooperation and development plan with Viet Nam.
The officials were from the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF), the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), the World Health Organisation, and the International Labour Organisation.
At these localities, the UN officials were received by provincial leaders who spoke about the localities' socio-economic performance, especially their achievements in implementing the UN's millennium goals.
The UN officials acknowledged these provinces' achievements in economics, healthcare, education, especially in reducing poor households and caring for the material and spiritual lives of ethnic people.
They expressed their sympathy with these localities over the difficulties they are facing.
The officials called at several educational and medical institutions in the three provinces.
