Party Chief Pledges to Set up Anti-corruption Board
Vietnam will set up an anti-corruption board which is to be presided over by a Deputy Prime Minister, Communist Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh confirmed Wednesday.
At a meeting with the people of Hanoi’s suburban district of Thanh Tri, Manh asserted the determination of the Party and the government to intensify the fight against corruption and wastefulness.
“It would be a difficult struggle that would require combined efforts by the Party, the people, and all organizations,” he said.
Also present in the meeting, the new speaker of Vietnam’s parliament, Nguyen Phu Trong, underlined the legislature’s commitment to the country’s reform process.
Many local people submitted proposals relating to urban development, health care, education, environment, and the training and appointment of officials.
They showed concern about the lack of information for Vietnamese businesses to prepare for the country's entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO).
They also raised the issues of corruption and wastefulness, complaint settlement and administrative reforms.
