Vietnam to Host International Buddhism Conference
An international conference on Buddhism jointly hosted by Vietnam Institute of Buddhism Study and the HCMC-based Van Hanh monastery is set to take place in the southern hub July 15-16, a press conference heard Thursday.
Themed at “Opportunities and challenges for Buddhism in modern time”, the conference is considered the biggest-ever international Buddhism meeting hosted in Vietnam.
Buddhism scholars coming from 30 delegations are expected to attend the conference with 85 addresses to be delivered.
In addition, the conference is aimed at promoting national identities as well as respect for religious traditions within Vietnamese culture, Dr Le Manh That, Standing Vice Chancellor of Vietnam Institute of Buddhism Study, said.
