Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visits the US

The US promised continued assistance to Vietnam in judicial reform by personnel training, as well as enhance bilateral cooperation in the fight against HIV/AIDS, drug and terrorism. 
 
US officials made the commitment during their meetings with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc during Phuc’s visit to the US from August 21-23. 
 
The deputy PM met with US Secretary of Justice Eric Holder and Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius. 
 
The Deputy PM also visited and held working sessions with the US Agency for International Development, the Global AIDS Coordinator, the Federal Drug Policy Coordination Office, the Washington DC Drug Court and the Habour Light drug rehabilitation centre. 
 
During the meetings, the US sides stated they wish to bolster the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership. 
Phuc suggested the two nations further intensify cooperation in health care, humanitarian issues, education-training, environment, overcoming war consequences and fighting drug crime. 
 
While visiting staff of the Vietnamese embassy in the US, Phuc said he hopes they will do more to promote the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership in a more practical and effective way. 
 
He also asked them to provide more support to the Vietnamese community in the US.-VNA
