Promoting the image of Vietnam's Land, culture, and people in the United States

On the evening of October 23, the Embassy of Vietnam in the United States, in collaboration with Things To Do DC, hosted a comprehensive promotional event showcasing Vietnam’s economy, culture, and cuisine at the Vietnam House in Washington, D.C. The event was attended by over 100 guests, including government officials, local authorities, business leaders, scholars, artists, journalists, and representatives of local political and social organizations.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States, Nguyễn Quốc Dũng, delivered the opening remarks at the event.

In his opening remarks, Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States Nguyễn Quốc Dũng provided an overview of Vietnam’s rich history, diverse and unique cultural traditions, and the hardworking, intelligent, compassionate, resilient, and hospitable nature of the Vietnamese people. Ambassador Nguyễn Quốc Dũng also highlighted the achievements in the relationship between Vietnam and the United States. The event then proceeded with a vibrant and diverse program featuring three main components: a presentation on Vietnam’s economy, trade, and investment opportunities; a showcase of traditional attire from Vietnam’s three regions; and a culinary reception featuring dishes from Hanoi and Hue.

The event attracted the attention of attendees with a vibrant display of traditional costumes from the northern mountain ethnic groups, including the bà ba tunic, four-piece áo tứ thân, and the elegant áo dài, all set to the rhythm of Vietnamese music. Particularly, the pho and spring rolls prepared by the embassy’s chefs, along with traditional Hue dishes, brought the distinctive flavors of Vietnamese cuisine for the guests to enjoy. On the sidelines of the event, attendees were delighted to try on traditional Vietnamese costumes and personally experience the process of making spring rolls.

The CEO of Things To Do DC, Gregory Bland, thanked Ambassador Nguyễn Quốc Dũng and the Embassy of Vietnam in the United States for "opening the doors" of the Vietnam House to American friends. Mr. Bland mentioned that American guests were very eager to attend the event organized by the Embassy to learn more about the country and people of Vietnam. The attendees expressed their admiration for Vietnam’s economic development achievements, their desire to explore famous tourist destinations across the three regions of Vietnam, and their interest in finding investment and business opportunities in the country.

The comprehensive promotional event organized by the Embassy left a strong impression on the guests and was one of the key highlights of the 2024 cultural diplomacy activities, laying the foundation for events in the 30th anniversary of bilateral relations in 2025.
